Social Action

We take our responsibility of tikkun olam (repairing the world) seriously, and engage in numerous tzedakah (giving) projects throught the year, including working for human rights and raising funds and awareness for international crisis situations

Day of Service
This annual event is for all members of our community to fulfill the mitzvot of tikun olam and tzedakah. Volunteer projects range from community organizations like Habitat for Humanity and Birthday Dreams to synagogue-based programs preparing food for the homeless and beautifying our campus. Email Rebecca if you are interested in helping plan next year’s Day of Service!

Teen Feed
Each month a dedicated crew of HNT volunteers prepares and serves meals to homeless youth in the University District.

Food Drive
In the weeks leading up to the High Holidays, HNT collects non-perishable food for the Jewish Family Service Food Pantry. In past years, we divided the congregation into two teams and had a friendly competition to see which team donated more items.

Annual Blood Drive
This event honors the memory and last wish of Ellen Yusim z”l, a teenage congregant whose family was sponsored by our synagogue when they resettled in Seattle from the former Soviet Union.

The Puget Sound Blood Bank needs blood donors throughout the year. Click here to help them meet the needs of the community.

End Summer Hunger!
End Summer Hunger is Hopelink’s grassroots campaign that gathers the support of the local community to help provide low-income families with food for kids who receive free and reduced-fee breakfasts and lunches during the school year. We are proud to participate in this program by collecting items through the end of the FRS school year.

To volunteer for any of these programs, please contact our Program Director.
