SUMMARY:National Refugee Shabbat
DESCRIPTION:Over the Shabbat of October 20\, 2018\, Herzl-Ner Tamid will join the American Jewish community to dedicate sacred time and space to refugees and asylum seekers. Together\, we will learn about the global refugee crisis\, connect to the national Jewish movement for refugees\, celebrate local acts of welcome and recommit to putting our values into action. \nSpeaker: Rabbi Will Berkovitz\, CEO of JFS Seattle\nSaturday\, October 20 • Shabbat Services at HNT\nRabbi Will Berkovitz will speak about the current plight of refugees during Shabbat services. Will is responsible for the vision and strategic direction of Jewish Family Service. His responsibilities include program oversight and mobilization of philanthropic\, volunteer and advocacy support to meet the needs of vulnerable individuals and families in the Puget Sound region. Before coming to JFS\, Will was Senior Vice President and Rabbi in Residence at Repair the World. He developed partnership initiatives with organizations across the United States.
