SUMMARY:FRS Survey Due
DESCRIPTION:This survey is for FRS parents and guardians. If your student is too young to be in person on Tuesdays\, please answer what you think it would be like if they were old enough to be in person. We are sending this survey to seek feedback regarding our hybrid approach of in person learning on the weekends and distance learning on Tuesdays. The survey is looking for information on how parents feel about the in person/online learning given the current situation with Covid-19. The final question asks about outside Covid-19 restrictions. We wanted to take the pulse of the FRS community regarding the hybrid option. \nPlease also email Dr. Krigel your detailed comments if you’d like at eliyahu@h-nt.org. We will continue to reevaluate and modify this program. The results of the survey will be used in the shaping of FRS policy going forward. It will be presented to the Board and the FRS parent committee. \nThank you for your participation and for sharing your feedback! The survey can be submitted without your name attached. All answers will be aggregated together without names attached; names will only be used if leadership wants to ask follow up questions on specific answers.

SUMMARY:Foundations for a Thoughtful Judaism
DESCRIPTION:Taught by Rabbi Jacob Herber\nEvery other Wednesday ● 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM ● via Zoom \nJoin Rabbi Herber for Foundations for a Thoughtful Judaism\, The Shalom Hartman Institute’s latest curricular project\, which offers a sophisticated yet accessible introduction to philosophical ideas in Jewish peoplehood\, practice\, faith\, and ethics. Within these four rubrics we will explore the following questions: \nPeoplehood\nExplores questions related to the collective experience of Jewish life: What does it mean to be part of the Jewish community? To what extent can communities hold diverse and shared values at the same time? What does Jewish Peoplehood mean today\, when the centers of Jewish life\, North America and Israel\, are so different and independent from one another? \nFaith\nExplores questions related to what a relationship in God and a life of faith entails: Where does faith come from? What are the models in Jewish tradition for a complex relationship with God which includes reverence and joy\, but also anger and argument? Where does doubt fit into a life of faith? Where do Jews who do not believe fit in? \nPractice\nExplores questions that are fundamental to Jewish practice: What is the system of mitzvot trying to accomplish? Why the need for ritual action beyond belief? How have Jewish thinkers conceived of the meaning of mitzvot in an age of radical human autonomy? \nEthics\nExplores questions related to ethical obligation and decision-making: How has Jewish tradition conceived of what we owe other people? How might we approach ethical dilemmas which test our loyalties to values and to people? \nRegister at https://hnt.wufoo.com/forms/foundations-for-a-thoughtful-judaism
