DESCRIPTION:As a member of Congregations for the Homeless\, which strives to mitigate the pain of homelessness by providing meals and basic needs\, HNT aspires to provide at least two monthly meals for 100 men. \nHow you can help: \n\nHelp prepare one or more dishes for the meal on November 7\, captained by FRS 2nd & 3rd Grade\nThis is a great activity for families\, friends\, your book group\, or chavurah\, and HNT will provide organizational support. It’s all done potluck-style with food you can buy or make at home. Due to COVID-19 meals are currently contactless drop-off only. You choose the date that works for your group. Please email ShelterMeals@h-nt.org to volunteer to organize a group of friends to drop off a meal.

DESCRIPTION:Monthly Second Sunday Lunch for 25-30 Women In Need \nCaptained by Nadine Strauss \nThis facility acts as a permanent address for so many in need for social services\, job applications\, etc… as well as providing access to showers\, laundry\, computers\, and referrals for needed services. We provide a hot lunch for 25-30 which can be dropped off Friday afternoon or Sunday morning by 10:30 AM at the day center in the U District\, or arrange an earlier drop off with Nadine. ROOTS (Rising Out Of The Shadows) is a shelter for young adults\, many of whom have aged out of the foster system. Help us give these kids and young adults clothing to keep them warm this winter: \n\nGreatest need: kids-sized (2T and larger) new winter coats and adult-sized new or very gently used winter coats\nAlso appreciated: kids-sized new or gently used rain jackets\, new sweatpants with elastic waistbands\, socks and underwear; adult-sized new socks\, gloves\, and scarves\n\nPlease bring donations in your trunk on December 3rd or 5th and we will unload for you\, or drop off by the 5th in the red bins outside the upper foyer. Thank you for pre-bagging donations by child vs. adult sizes. \nNo time to shop? Email Rebecca@h-nt.org to make a donation by November 18 and volunteers will purchase coats on your behalf.
