Ellen succumbed to leukemia at age 16 and it was her final request to have an annual blood drive to help others in need of transfusions.   \nShe understood how her very life depended on donors and wished that gift to be carried forward in her name. We are partnering with SJCC and The First Night Project\, in honor of Ellen Yusim z”l\, Harry McGovern\, and others who have lost their lives or are still battling childhood cancer.  \nDonating blood is an essential and encouraged activity critical to sustaining community healthcare by providing a stable blood supply to patients at area hospitals. DESCRIPTION:Students from the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church will be joining our 3rd – 5th grade on March 6 for the Shalom Project. The Shalom Project is generously funded by the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. Tshishiku Henry from Jewish Family Service will be with us on Zoom to tell his compelling firsthand account of resettling in the Seattle area after being a recent refugee. Tshishiku is a case manager at JFS for their resettlement program. We will also have a speaker on Zoom from the Refugee Women’s Alliance. We are adopting refugee families and would appreciate your assistance in collecting household items. We’ll be meeting on March 6 but it’s not too late to support this important resettlement effort.
