DESCRIPTION:HNT invites you to join the Anti-Defamation League for the Seattle Pride Parade! \nPlease note that we will be starting the day at Cupcake Royale located at 108 Pine Street from 11:00am-12:00pm (not 10:00am as previously noted) where we will enjoy rainbow cupcakes and you can purchase ADL Pride t-shirts. At 12:00pm\, we will take a 12 minute walk over to our spot on the parade route to convene and get ready for the march. Our ADL spot on the parade route is located on 4th Streets between Marion and Columbia closer to Columbia Street. We will get organized and energized and begin officially marching a little after 1:00pm. \nPlease wear comfortable shoes and bring a great attitude\, friends\, family\, and kids and join us for all of part of the festivities. DESCRIPTION:We have crafted a new and innovative class and a trip to Los Angeles for teens based on American Jewish celebrity and Jewish identity formation. SUMMARY:Israel’s African Migrant Crisis Guest Speakers
DESCRIPTION:Guest Speakers: Oded Oron & Yikealo Beyene \nWhen the Israeli government planned to deport 40\,000 African migrants\, El Al pilots said they would refuse to fly them out of the country. A compromise was reached to allow 16\,000 migrants to find temporary shelter in Israel. But\, Prime Minister Netanyahu cancelled the plan hours later in response to public pressure. What is the right thing to do? Join us to hear two experts. \nYikealo Beyene\, originally from Eritrea\, was a refugee in Israel for eight years. He pursued an advanced degree in Israel despite enormous legal and financial obstacles. During and after his studies\, he was active in the asylum seeker and refugee community. \nOded Oron is a Tel Aviv born journalist currently studying at the University of Washington. His research focuses on the mobilization of irregular migrants such as guest workers\, undocumented migrants\, asylum seekers and refugees. His dissertation compares African migrants mobilizing in Israel with migrant movements in WA state.

On Saturday\, May 12\, you can do it all. We’ll be meeting at three different locations and walking to synagogue together.
