It’s all done potluck-style with food you can buy or make at home. Due to COVID-19 meals are currently contactless drop-off only. You choose the date that works for your group. DESCRIPTION:Students from the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church will be joining our 3rd – 5th grade on March 6 for the Shalom Project. The Shalom Project is generously funded by the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. Tshishiku Henry from Jewish Family Service will be with us on Zoom to tell his compelling firsthand account of resettling in the Seattle area after being a recent refugee. Tshishiku is a case manager at JFS for their resettlement program. We will also have a speaker on Zoom from the Refugee Women’s Alliance. We are adopting refugee families and would appreciate your assistance in collecting household items. We’ll be meeting on March 6 but it’s not too late to support this important resettlement effort. It turns out they had a lot of ideas about how we should behave to one another and what might be the impact on society if we ignore our responsibilities to one another. We don’t think the Rabbis were utopians but they had long discussions about how we might go wrong in our interpersonal relationships. \nHere is the signup. DESCRIPTION:Led by Rabbi Jay Rosenbaum & Reverend Elizabeth Riley via Zoom \nFifty years ago\, the Christian world revolutionized its relationship with the Jewish people by rejecting the teaching of contempt\, the belief that Jews were to be blamed for the death of Jesus. This led to a dramatic decrease in Christian antisemitism. But\, with antisemitism on the rise\, the transformation of Jewish-Christian relations can serve as a model for all of us. \nIn this class we will review what we discussed in our January 2021 class to lay the groundwork for our upcoming new experiences\, and we will be adding some new material on The Relationship between Body and Soul in Judaism and Christianity.
