SUMMARY:Selichot
DESCRIPTION:Film & Discussion: 8:45 PM • Selichot service: 11:00 PM\nThis special program\, featuring a discussion led by Rabbi Leff\, is designed to get us ready for the High Holidays by deepening our connection to others as well as to God.\nWe will be watching the 1991 movie “Defending Your Life\,” starring Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep. We’ll have a discussion after the film on connecting the movie to our High Holiday themes\, and Selichot services will follow the discussion.

SUMMARY:Wishing Rabbi Green Mazel Tov & Bon Voyage
DESCRIPTION:During 10:00 AM Shabbat Services \nIt’s with heavy hearts that our congregation will formally say l’hitraot and todah rabbah to Rabbi Green\, but we also can wish her a hearty Mazal Tov and Bon Voyage! \nWhy? Because Rabbi Green married Akiva Potok in Santa Rosa\, CA on August 19\, celebrating with friends and family who traveled from near and far. She will be leaving us after more than a year at HNT where she inspired us with her teaching\, sermons\, and lovely voice. Rabbi Green was instrumental in jumpstarting our young adult program and worked collaboratively with our clergy and Dr. Krigel in the planning and facilitation of our services and programs. \nRabbi Green will be joining her husband in LA and will be bringing her compassion and many talents to Beit T’Shuvah\, a Jewish addiction rehabilitation center in Culver City\, returning there after two prior years of internship while she was in rabbinical school. She will be meeting with clients to provide pastoral counseling\, facilitating groups\, teaching\, leading services\, and helping to innovate new approaches in integrating Jewish spirituality with health and healing. \nThough Rabbi Green will be with us through Yom Kippur\, please join together on October 5 to say thank you and goodbye. \nWords from Rabbi Green:\nMuch gratitude to the HNT community for providing me with the opportunity to learn\, grow\, and teach. Thank you to Rabbi Rosenbaum and Cantor Kurland for being exceptional colleagues and mentors – always supportive\, kind\, helpful\, and respectful. Thank you to Dr. Krigel for your outstanding collaboration\, positive attitude\, and community-building. Thank you to Nadine Strauss\, Rebecca Frankel and the entire staff for your amazing and ongoing commitment to the HNT community – truly inspiring!! Thank you to all the FRS staff and teachers for making our community a lovely place to come to every day of the week. And thank you to Rav Barry Leff for your skilled organizational leadership\, innovative approach to Jewish law\, and passion for teaching. I will miss you all!
