Adult Education Events

In addition to our year-round adult education classes, we offer several big events each year to help quench your thirst for Jewish learning. Herzl-Ner Tamid is known in the community for raising the bar on community learning.

Scholar In Residence

Scholar in Residence weekend provides new opportunities to experience Shabbat, learn, and bond together as a community. With talks throughout the weekend offering the Scholar’s unique insights and expertise, we learn about our own community as well as the greater Jewish community of the world.

Limmud Seattle

Learn from world-changing Jewish thinkers and innovators from across the area and around the world.

Limmud is a global phenomenon, founded in the UK in 1980, which offers the most extensive opportunities for Jewish engagement the world over. Inspired by Limmud in the UK, there are now 83 Limmud communities around the world in 43 countries running local Limmud events based on a common set of shared values. In 2015, 33,000 people participated in these Limmud events created by 3,000 volunteers.

The first Limmud Seattle sold out with 500 attendees in January 2018. The next Limmud will take place in 2019.

Tikkun Leil Shavuot

We strive to provide interesting, engaging, and provocative themes for our Shavuot study/dinner evenings. Past topics have included Game of Thrones: Biblical and Talmudic Tales of Sexual Intimacy, Tension, and Confusion; Text, Thugs, and Rock and Roll; and, House of Cards: Jewish Approaches to Ethical Government. If you registered for more than one semester-long class, your dinner is complimentary!

Check the calendar in May/June to see where Shavuot falls this year
