Some foods symbolize luck and prosperity for Italians at New Year’s. In this menu we’ve incorporated some of the Italian New Year’s food lore with hopes for a prosperous and peaceful 2021
• Sfincione – Sicilian New Year’s Focaccia With Tomato, Mozzarella, Caramelized Onions, Oregano, Provolone, Anchovy & Breadcrumbs
• Minestrone With Basil Paste -Organic Black Lentils, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Tomato, Carrot, White wine, Basil, Oregano, Leeks, Zucchini, New Potatoes, & Pecorino:
Due to their “coin” shape, lentils symbolize prosperity for the New Year
• Champagne Risotto – Arborio Rice, Champagne, Herbs, Garlic, Cremini Mushrooms, Shallots, & Parmesan:
As rice cooks it expands and increases, many New Year’s menus serve rice to embody financial prosperity
• Mixed Greens & Herb Salad With Grapes, Arugula, Radicchio, & Parmesan in a Warm Fig Balsamic Vinaigrette:
It is said it takes great willpower to conserve some grapes from the harvest until New Year’s Eve, serving grapes indicates that everyone at the table will be wise and frugal in the New Year
