Israeli Elections, American Jews

September 10, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Tuesdays, September 10 & 24 • 7:30 PM

Israel is holding elections on September 17. What do the elections mean for American Jews?

On September 10 we’ll discuss how the Israeli political system works, and whether American Jews should care about what happens in Israeli elections. After the election, on September 24, we’ll discuss the results, what happens next, and what it means for Israel and American Jews.

Different perspectives will be shared by our three panelists:

Rabbi Barry Leff (Rav Barry) is the Interim Senior Rabbi for Herzl-Ner Tamid on Mercer Island. Rav Barry made aliyah in 2007 and has been a dual Israeli-American citizen ever since. He was ordained as a rabbi in 2002 after a 20+ year career as an executive and entrepreneur in Silicon Valley.

Randy Kessler is the Executive Director for the Northwest Region of StandWithUs, an LA-based Israel advocacy organization. Prior to joining StandWithUs, Randy had a 20+ year career in sales and marketing for high-tech companies.

Adam Steinberg is J Street’s Northwest Regional Director. Adam has done Jewish communal work for the past ten years, mostly focused on Israel and its pursuit for peace. He lived in Beersheba, Israel for two years, working for a non-profit focused on Jewish-Arab equality.
