Let My People Go: African-Americans and Jews in Conversation About the Bible’s Freedom Story

December 4, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Wednesdays, November 13, December 4, 11
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM • Radiant Church, Renton
Led by Pastor Mike Thomas, Rabbi Jay Rosenbaum, Dr. Mark Jones
African Americans and Jews share a love of the Bible and a love of freedom. The story of the Exodus of the Children of Israel from Egypt has inspired our communities through the centuries to pursue our own paths to liberation. That path is ongoing.

The journey to the Promised Land has at times taken us in different directions, unique to our experiences. Yet the African American and Jewish communities share a deep common bond. In the face of rising racism and antisemitism in America and in the world, we look to old friends for nourishment and support. Join us in a conversation about Exodus designed to expand our understanding of the human spirit, strengthen the connection between the African American and Jewish communities and lead us closer to Dr. King’s vision of beloved community.

Session One: The Nature of Slavery
Session Two: Resistance
Session Three: The Long Road to Freedom

If you’d like to participate, please contact Rabbi Rosenbaum at RabbiRosenbaum@h-nt.org.
